Sidhu Meets Singapore Deputy PM, Trade Minister

The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, met in Singapore with Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore.

Minister Sidhu and Deputy Prime Minister Gan spoke about increasing two-way investment between Canada and Singapore and working together to attract investments. Underscoring the importance of Singapore as a key partner for Canada in the Indo‑Pacific, Minister Sidhu highlighted the expanding presence of Canadian companies in Singapore in sectors such as aerospace, advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

Minister Sidhu also reaffirmed Canada's commitment to greater integration and cooperation between the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans‑Pacific Partnership and the European Union, and he welcomed Singapore's involvement in related efforts. The Minister also reiterated Canada's commitment to conclude the ASEAN-Canada free trade agreement negotiations this year.
