Significant take up of free RAT program

Nearly 9,000 free Rapid Antigen Test kits (RATs) have been distributed by the City's libraries, leisure facilities and customer service centres in February, amounting to 40,705 individual tests.

The Victorian Government is supporting local councils to distribute the COVID-19 detection tests until June 2023.

Tests can be picked up by all community members from the following locations:

Customer Service Centres

  • Corio Customer Service Centre
  • Drysdale Customer Service Centre

Libraries

Sporting and Aquatic Centres

The City asks community members not to attend council facilities for a test if they are unwell.

Mayor Trent Sullivan

The community has been enthusiastic in its support of the program.

I'm pleased to report that we have enough free RATs to continue to meet this remarkable demand, so I encourage residents to take advantage of the program before it wraps up.

Our staff have received such positive feedback from community members collecting the RATs, in particular those who are testing regularly due to vulnerable loved ones and are finding this cost prohibitive.

Councillor Ron Nelson

Community members don't need to meet any eligibility requirements to pick up free RATs.

After selecting a book at the library, exercising at one of our recreation centres or speaking to our friendly Customer Service staff, why not collect some free RATs while you're there

Residents can take up to two kits per person plus up to two for each household member and those with a disability or their carer can collect up to four packets of tests.
