A six-car pile-up on the Southern Expressway caused traffic headaches for commuters this morning.
The chain reaction collision occurred in the citybound track of the Southern Expressway, O'Halloran Hill, about one kilometre north of the Majors Road exit, about 6.40am on Thursday 25 June.
Fortunately, there were no injuries sustained.
The collision caused delays for citybound motorists, and the speed limit was dropped for traffic heading past the crash scene.
Police attended and examined the scene, revealing there had been an initial two-car collision. The third car managed to stop to avoid the collision, however, it was struck from behind in another four-car crash.
Four of the six vehicles needed to be towed away.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
Drivers are urged to allow a safe stopping distance, or the 3-second rule, behind the vehicle in front to prevent rear-end collisions. This distance increases in wet weather, at night, when towing or if visibility is poor.
