Skip Bins Now Available For Camper's Waste

Summer is here, and Campaspe Shire is welcoming visitors eager to enjoy our beautiful region. To help keep our environment clean during the busy holiday season, Campaspe Shire Council has installed skip bins in popular camping areas.

Council's Director Sustainability, Michael Sharp, said the initiative supports campers while protecting local landscapes.

"Each year, we provide skip bins in high-use locations to manage the increase in waste. We're thrilled to welcome visitors, but not the rubbish they may leave behind," Mr Sharp said.

He reminded everyone that these bins are strictly for campers' waste - not household rubbish.

"Our contractors will empty the bins regularly, but if a bin is full, please don't leave rubbish on the ground as it creates hazards for people and wildlife. Instead, take it to a Resource Recovery Centre, where campers' waste is accepted free of charge," Mr Sharp added.

Skip bins will be available from Christmas through the New Year at:

  • Echuca East Boat Ramp
  • Victoria Park
  • Torrumbarry Roadhouse
  • Gunbower Recreation Reserve

Locals and visitors can also use Council's Resource Recovery Centres for a wide range of waste disposal. For locations and opening hours, visit: campaspe.vic.gov.au/rrc .

Another great option for reducing waste is Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme, which rewards you for returning eligible drink containers for recycling. For details, visit: cdsvic.org.au/locations
