Smart locker at Chigwell Child and Family Centre

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

The Hodgman Liberal Government has made the library network more accessible to all Tasmanians.

Today I was pleased to visit the Chigwell Child and Family Centre (CFC) to launch the installation of a Smart Locker.

This will allow people access to the library online and the ability to collect items placed on hold without needing to visit a Libraries Tasmania site. For busy families or families who face barriers, like transportation, this is an opportunity for them to still have access to library materials in a setting they are familiar with.

The Smart Locker is a fantastic Libraries Tasmania initiative which brings resources to clients at the CFC, making it easier to borrow and return items.

It allows the Library to offer a contemporary and convenient holds lending service for the Chigwell community.

It is also a wonderful way to support early literacy skill development for families by giving them easy access to a wide range of books.

The Smart Locker has been funded through the Tasmanian Government's $3 million Contemporary Library Resource commitment.
