South Australia Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway, recently hosted a roundtable in Guangzhou to promote the state's newly launched Landing Pad program.
The roundtable included representatives of incubators, accelerators, startups and scale ups from Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
The South Australian Landing Pad offers support and assistance in the three important areas when establishing a presence in a new jurisdiction.
These include up to $40,000 to access South Australia's unique innovation and co-working hubs or alternative accommodation types; up to $40,000 to access professional support and advice; and case management to help firms navigate, network and participate in the local ecosystem.
'We have recently welcomed leading innovation hub, Stone and Chalk, to Adelaide. The company is partnering with the South Australian Government to develop and launch a world-class innovation precinct providing opportunities for business in areas such as space, artificial intelligence, big data, cyber security and fintech,' Minister Ridgway says.
Minister Ridgway was in China to support South Australian exhibitors and delegates at the China International Import Expo.
During his visit to Guangzhou and Shanghai, Minister Ridgway met with potential investors and tourism organisations to encourage increased visitation to South Australia.
Minister Ridgway also formally announced the appointment of Joie Liang as South Australia's representative based in Guangzhou. She will work in conjunction with Alice Jim in Hong Kong to pursue opportunities on behalf of the state in the Greater Bay Area.
