COVID cases in SA
There have been 2,512 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia in the past week.
As of 11:59pm Thursday 6 October, there were 1,824 active cases in South Australia and 43 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including two in ICU.
*Due to changes underway within hospital reporting systems, this week's hospitalisation number is limited for one Local Health Network.
Of those hospitalised, 30 people had received three or more vaccine doses and 13 people were either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
There were 11 COVID-19 deaths notified in the past week, the ages range from people in their 70s to people over the age of 100. Deaths may not have occurred in the week in which they were reported.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 5.8% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 88.3% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.
COVID testing
In the past week, 15,953 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a 0.1% decrease on the previous week. Of the test results returned, 1,107 PCR tests were positive, while 1,405 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Latest COVID-19 changes
From today, South Australians who test positive to COVID-19 will no longer have a legal requirement to isolate. To protect others in our community, anyone with symptoms is encouraged to take steps to stop the spread of disease by continuing to get tested and stay at home until symptoms have cleared.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.4% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75.2% of eligible South Australians and 71.2% of South Australians aged 16+.
