Today, we're seeing a stark contrast across Australia, with plenty of cloud in the west and south and clearer skies in the east and north.
Through the rest of Sunday, a cold front will sweep through Western Australia, bringing showers, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Ahead of the front, elevated Fire Dangers, with cloud streaming east into South Australia. Meanwhile, the eastern states and northern Australia can expect a mostly sunny and settled end to the weekend.
On Monday, it'll be a foggy, frosty start for the east coast, and another sunny day. Winds will start to increase in the south-east though, particularly through South Australia with late showers developing as well. The west remains unsettled as a wintery blast delivers scattered showers, possible small hail, and thunderstorms. Snow flurries are even possible across the Stirling Range peaks in the afternoon.
Tuesday, wet weather will gradually contract to WA's southern coast. The cold front pushes east, bringing strong winds, scattered showers, and isolated storms to South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania.
By Wednesday, the front reaches New South Wales. Conditions stay blustery and showery across the south-east, with snow levels dropping. Cold in the south-west too, with morning frosts a concern across WA's growing regions. In contrast, northern Australia will see springlike warmth and mostly settled weather.
Thursday remains cold in the south-east, with daytime temperatures struggling to reach the low teens in south-east Australia. Combined with gusty winds and ongoing showers, the feels-like temperatures are likely to be very low.
By Friday and into next weekend, the coldest air yet moves across the south-east and pushes further north, driving temperatures below average across Central Australia and southern Queensland. Showers along Australia's southern coasts, with gusty winds and low-level snow continuing for the south-east.
That's it for this week, see you next time.
