Rockhampton Regional Council is calling all bookworms, reading enthusiasts and book clubs to come along to the Southside Library for a series of upcoming Author talks.

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said the library will host an author each month from January to April.

"These events have been really popular with the community, and I am super excited to see more authors join us this year," Cr Wickerson said.

"First up, Gladstone author Jennifer McGuire will be at the library this Friday, 20 January, to talk about her courageous book Corporate Storm.

"Subtitled A true story of a whistleblower's fight for justice, this is a powerful account of how one woman stood up to intimidation and corruption in a large corporation in Central Queensland … and won!

"Then, on Friday 03 February, local historian and author Gail Grant will officially launch her new book From Glen to Gold.

"Based on Gail's research into her own family history, this historical biography combines fact and fiction in the lively tale of Willie Grant and his family as they travel from Scotland to seek their fortune, first on the Victorian goldfields and then in the emerging city of Rockhampton.

"Our third author is Montville artist, illustrator and author Jim Cox, who has recently released a stunning illustrated picture book for all ages, focusing on the tragic destruction of many of our native species.
