It might be winter but that's not going to stop Logan City Council from a spring clean of the drinking water network.
Over the next few months, the pipes that deliver drinking water to the City of Logan will be flushed and disinfected.
The process reduces the risk of contamination and ensures clean and safe drinking water.
The network clean is completely safe but may result in a slight change to the taste and colour of the water.
Residents will be notified via mail before work commences.
The works begin this week and will impact a small number of neighbourhoods in Berrinba and Heritage Park.
Infrastructure Chair Councillor Teresa Lane said Council is committed to provide safe and reliable drinking water.
"Logan Water is an award-winning provider of water and wastewater services to the people of Logan," Cr Lane said.
"While I acknowledge that some people can be put off by temporary changes to the taste of their water, these works are absolutely necessary to prevent outbreaks of E.coli and other nasties.
"Any unlikely changes in appearance can usually be resolved through running your tap for five minutes.
"These works are necessary to provide a safe, high quality drinking water supply service that safeguards public health and supports our growing community."
