Science & Technology Australia is proud to partner with Ribit, a new digital portal connecting tertiary educated graduates with tech, marketing and research roles and employers.
In Australia, there are more than 1 million tertiary students with skills in digital, STEM, research and business. Ribit works as a digital matchmaker bringing together this early career pool with the companies and startups that need these skills.
Science and Technology Australia CEO Kylie Walker said that Ribit was an important initiative that would help facilitate positive connections.
"STEM skills are in increasing demand across a huge range of sectors, and demand for these skills are predicted to grow exponentially over the next decade," Ms Walker said.
"We're proud to support Ribit in helping businesses tap into and connect with opportunity this next generation of talent."
Ribit operates out of Data61, CSIRO's data innovation group. The platform is developed on a machine-learning algorithm that matches students to roles which align with their skills and studies, and recommends suitable student candidates to employers.
Director and Founder Liz Jakubowski said Ribit helps students and businesses in Australia overcome a common challenge - connecting with each other.
"Students struggle to find roles and identify employers quickly, while businesses also find it a difficult to reach students across all tertiary institutions, TAFEs and colleges efficiently," Ms Jakubowski said.
"Through Ribit, businesses can find students directly by searching for them on the platform, or post a role where students using the platform can apply.
"Ribit is also good for our economy. According to a recent Federal Government Innovation report, innovative companies make up most of the new job growth in Australia.
There are approximately 33,000 students, and around 2,500 employers using the Ribit platform.
