Sydney will soon get the world-class sporting infrastructure it deserves with Lendlease being announced as the construction contractor of the Sydney Football Stadium, says the Sydney Business Chamber.
"This is the next step in ensuring Sydney becomes the premier sporting destination in the country and today's announcement will provide business with the certainty it needs to get on with the job," said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.
"Investing in sporting infrastructure is vital for not only Sydney's economy but NSW's economy and means we can compete globally for major events.
"While other state governments across Australia have spent billions of dollars developing world-class stadiums, NSW has stood still," Mrs Forsythe said.
"The redevelopment will put NSW back on the world stage in attracting the best sporting events as well as global music concerts and entertainment acts.
"In order to compete on an international scale, Sydney needs to have the best facilities.
"This is about the future and vision of Sydney. The importance of world-class infrastructure can no longer be dismissed," Mrs Forsythe said.
