Staff threatened with sword and machete during robbery at Wauchope, NSW

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a tavern at Wauchope, NSW Police say.

About 8.50pm yesterday (Sunday 27 May 2018), three men with their faces covered entered the licensed premises on High Street, Wauchope, and threatened staff who were in the process of closing.

The men were armed with a samurai sword, machete and a wooden club.

They gathered all six staff members together before forcing them to open a safe, stealing cash.

They also stole three mobile phones from the staff.

The men fled the scene in a vehicle described as a white-coloured late-model Subaru four-wheel drive.

The car was last seen travelling east on High Street.

Police from Mid North Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.

Two of the staff members, a man and woman, sustained grazes and scratches during the incident; however, no staff required medical treatment.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
