Ireland Brown Constructions has been endorsed as the preferred head contractor to build stage two of the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre following a competitive open tender process.
The indoor facility in Drysdale builds on the well-received heated 50-metre outdoor pool and is set to feature:
- 25 m indoor pool with eight lanes and access ramp;
- Warm water pool with access ramp;
- Accessible change rooms;
- First aid room;
- Gymnasium and group fitness rooms;
- Foyer, reception, administration and office;
- Café with seating;
- Landscaping and pathways;
- Extended car park including two additional accessible car parks; and
- Refurbishment of the entry pavilion.
Construction will begin in November and is estimated to wrap up in 2027.
The Australian and Victorian governments have each committed $20 million to the project, with the City contributing up to $300,000.

The award of the tender is an exciting milestone for families and community members across the North Bellarine.This project reflects the North Bellarine community's long-held desire for an indoor local aquatic centre that offers swimming lessons and a safe welcoming place for people of all ages and abilities to swim, exercise and stay active.
Stage 2 of the aquatic centre will build on the success of the outdoor pool, and I'm so proud that, together with the Victorian Government and the City of Greater Geelong, we're delivering a much-needed project that will bring the community together and help families live healthier, more connected lives.
