Stage 6 Beechwood Rd: Stormwater Drainage Build

As part of Stage 6 of the Beechwood Road upgrade project, Council will be undertaking stormwater drainage construction works within both lanes of Waugh Street between Cowdery Street and Beechwood Road.

Works will commence on 28 September 2026 and is estimated to take one week, weather-permitting.

Eire Constructions crews will carry out the works.

Traffic impact

  • Detours will be in place down Cowdery Street.
  • Access to properties will be maintained for residents, with minor delays if construction works &/or equipment are in the immediate area.
  • Emergency Services will be given priority access to Waugh Street.
  • Due to the timing of works within school holidays, there are no impacts to Busways (school bus route).

What to expect

  • We are requesting residents to assist by not parking vehicles in the immediate construction area.
  • There will be some construction noise with the use of machinery. Every effort will be ensured to minimise this, where possible.
  • Allow extra travel time, as there may be delays due to changed traffic conditions.

The Beechwood Road Upgrade (Stage 6) project is critical to cater for the region's growth particularly in and around Wauchope and will see the raising and replacement of an ageing timber bridge structure that has required regular maintenance and is subject to frequent flooding.

The Beechwood Road Upgrade (Stage 6) is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments, with $5 million provided via the Australian Government's Safer Local Roads Infrastructure Program, $6 million from the NSW Government's Accelerated Infrastructure Fund, and additional funding from PMHC.
