- More than 700 offenders charged with over 2600 offences during major crime crackdown in Townsville and Cairns.
- Specialist police crackdown across North and Far North Queensland is funded and delivered by the Crisafulli Government.
- After 10 years of Labor failures, the Crisafulli Government is giving police the laws and resources to restore community safety and reduce the number of victims.
The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live by delivering one of the largest crime crackdowns across North Queensland in more than a decade, with the State Flying Squad joining local police to take down serious repeat offenders in Townsville and Cairns.
The specialist squad has already been deployed twice across North and Far North Queensland over the past month, backing in local officers and sending a clear warning to offenders that crime will not be tolerated.
These deployments are part of a major crackdown across the North and Far North, funded and delivered by the Crisafulli Government, after 10 long years of Labor neglect and rising crime.
Since the police blitz started on August 9, more than 424 offenders have been charged with more than 1,400 offences in Townsville alone, including property crime, drink and drug driving, weapons possession, domestic violence offences and drug production.
As part of this latest crackdown, police conducted more than 1,400 wandings, which resulted in the seizure of 17 weapons.
In Cairns, 284 people have been charged with 1,180 offences.
The Crisafulli Government is turning the tide and arresting Labor's Youth Crime Crisis, thanks to the Making Our Community Safer Plan, and delivery of the Making Queensland Safer laws.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the results show what can be achieved when police are properly supported by government.
"This is the difference between 10 months of delivering under the Crisafulli Government and 10 years of decline under Labor," Minister Purdie said.
"We promised Queenslanders that we would back our police with the tools, resources and laws they need, and that's exactly what we're doing.
"The officers we've unleashed across North and Far North Queensland are making a real difference on the ground and making Queensland safer.
"Queenslanders know the cost of Labor's failures was more crime, fewer police, and communities left behind.
"Every arrest, every weapon seized, every drug lab shut down is proof that our plan is working.
"The Crisafulli Government is turning the tide by delivering safer streets, stronger policing, and a justice system that puts victims first.
"This is about restoring the basic right of Queenslanders to feel safe in their own homes and communities."
