Western Australia's squash community is ready to welcome teams from around the world to its new home, with the redeveloped WA State Squash Centre officially open thanks to a $2.45 million investment from the Cook Labor Government.
Ahead of the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships later this month, the Belmont Squash and Sport Centre has been transformed into a world-class facility, delivered through the State Sporting Infrastructure Fund as part of PlayOn WA.
The centre has been upgraded into a modern, accessible venue capable of supporting high-performance training, community participation and delivering major national and international events.
The upgrade includes new international-standard glass-backed courts, improved lighting, refurbished changerooms, and enhanced accessibility, along with roof improvements, a new faade, and upgraded amenities for players and spectators.
With the redevelopment now complete, the WA State Squash Centre is set to welcome competitors from around the globe for the 2026 World Squash Masters Championship from 30 August to 6 September.
The project is part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to delivering high-quality sporting infrastructure for the Western Australian community through PlayOn WA.
PlayOn WA is ensuring Western Australians have access to modern facilities that encourage greater participation while supporting the State's growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
"The completion of the redeveloped WA State Squash Centre marks an exciting new chapter for the sport in Western Australia.
"Our $2.45 million investment has transformed this facility into a modern, accessible venue that will support everyone from grassroots players through to elite athletes.
"These upgrades ensure Western Australia has a world-class squash facility capable of hosting major tournaments, while providing fantastic opportunities for our local community to get active.
"The Cook Labor Government is proud to be investing in facilities like this right across our State that strengthen our communities, improve wellbeing and help grow participation in sport."
