- Stephen Lemonis appointed as a judge of the District Court of Western Australia

Attorney General John Quigley is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Lemonis to the District Court of Western Australia.
Mr Lemonis' appointment as a judge of the District Court will commence on February 1, 2019, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of His Honour Justice Philip McCann.
Mr Lemonis is an experienced and respected legal practitioner who was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1989 and in New South Wales in 1997.
He has had extensive involvement in the areas of white-collar crime, corporate crime and regulatory investigations.
Mr Lemonis is recognised as a skilled practitioner in commercial litigation and dispute resolution as well as insolvency and restructuring.
As stated by Attorney General John Quigley:
"Mr Lemonis is a successful practitioner who has been widely acknowledged within the legal profession for his extensive knowledge of the law and detailed understanding of the cases in which he has been involved.
"He is currently a director of Lemonis/Tantiprasut, which was formed in 2010.
"Prior to this, he was a partner of Fairweather Lemonis from 2003 to 2010 and of Bennett + Co from 2001 to 2003.
"He has enjoyed a breadth of practice, including complicated civil matters and many prominent white-collar criminal matters.
"Mr Lemonis has been involved in cases at every jurisdictional level, and is well recognised as a formidable opponent.
"He has also served as an elected member of the Legal Practice Board, which reflects the confidence of the profession in his judgment and integrity.
"I congratulate Mr Lemonis on his appointment as a judge of the District Court and I wish him well in his new position."
