Stolen Motor Vehicle/Firearm Offences at Gagebrook

A 26 year old Lenah Valley man is in custody following an incident in Gagebrook in the early hours of this morning.

Approximately 12.30am on Monday 16 September, Bridgewater Police observed a silver Nissan Pathfinder travelling on the Bowen Bridge at Risdon. The vehicle evaded police and further checks revealed that the vehicle had been recently stolen from an address in Kingston.

A short time later, police observed the vehicle in Gagebrook and police units from Bridgewater, Glenorchy, Bellerive and Hobart attended the area and the vehicle was road spiked. The vehicle stopped on the East Derwent Highway at Old Beach and a 26 year old male from Lenah Valley was taken into custody where he remains under investigation for a number of charges.

A loaded long arm firearm was located in the vehicle.
