Submissions Open for More Social, Affordable Housing

  • Builders, developers, and community housing providers invited to lodge submissions to deliver new social and affordable homes
  • Part of the State Government's record $6.3 billion investment in housing and homelessness since 2021
  • Priority given to value-for-money projects that are development-approved and ready to build

The Cook Government has today issued two Calls for Submissions inviting builders, developers, and community housing providers (CHPs) to further boost the delivery of new social and affordable housing across Western Australia.

The Call for Submissions for Social and Affordable Housing(CFS-SAH) invites proposalsfrom builders and developers of all sizes to deliver apartment and grouped dwelling developments for social and affordable housing.

Projects will be prioritised where they demonstrate strong value-for-money, focus on one and two-bedroom homes, already have development approval, and have a builder ready to commence construction.

Proposals that incorporate innovation and sustainable development initiatives will also be highly regarded.

Submissions for the CFS-SAH can be lodged with the Housing Authority and will remain open until 28 January 2027.

Separately, the Call for Submissions from Community Housing Providers (CFS-CHP) provides a framework for the government to work with registered CHPs in a variety of ways to deliver housing options managed by the sector for vulnerable people.

Priority will be given to submissions that align with the Housing Australia Future Fund Round 3 parameters.

State support provided through this selection process will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis and could include capital grant funding, land leases, or land contributions.

Submissions for the CFS-CHP can be lodged with the Housing Authority and will remain open until 28 January 2027.

Submissions for both the CFS-SAH and CHS-CHP will support the delivery of government's $6.3 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures since 2021, to ensure more Western Australians have a place to call home.

As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:

"These two Calls for Submissions open the door for builders, developers, and community housing providers to partner with the State Government to deliver more social and affordable homes right across WA.

"By working with private industry and community housing, we can accelerate delivery, unlock new sites, and explore innovative models to increase supply for vulnerable Western Australians.

"This process was a key reform to social housing procurement our government has made, to help deliver outcomes from our record $6.3 billion housing investment since 2021."
