Sunnyside North beach survey results

MPSLogo_News.jpg

The results of a community survey on the status of Sunnyside North beach will be considered by Council next week.

Earlier this year we asked the community whether the beach should retain its clothing optional status. We received 4285 responses, which have now been independently assessed.

We asked all respondents the same question: 'Do you think Sunnyside North beach should remain a clothing optional beach?' We received the following responses:

YES3865
NO420
TOTAL4285

Included in the above figure are 94 residents living close to the beach who we proactively contacted and invited to take part. Of those residents living close to the beach, the responses were:

YES14
NO80
TOTAL94

Councill will consider the results at its meeting on 6 December 2022 and make a decision on whether to ask the State Government to remove the clothing optional status of the beach.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Steve Holland:

"We want to thank everyone who took part in this survey and thank them for their patience while we analysed the results."

"Council will carefully weigh up the wishes of both nearby residents and the broader community when making a decision on next steps."
