Supporting multicultural celebrations across state

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Community Services and Development

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is working closely with our peak multicultural body to deliver on a more harmonious, inclusive and respectful multicultural State, where Tasmanians of all cultures have an equal opportunity to belong and contribute.

Delivering on a key part of our election commitment to bring all Tasmanians together to celebrate diversity, the Multicultural Council of Tasmania (MCOT) is facilitating the Multicultural Community Celebration Grants program which provides multicultural community organisations with up to $500 to assist in holding cultural celebrations in 2022.

Multicultural community organisations can apply for grant funding for eligible events that are open to the public, are free to attend, and have not received any other state government funding for the event.

Our migrants, refugees, and temporary visa holders are a vital part of our community and, as we work to address the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, the value of inclusion and diversity is more important than ever.

Celebrations such as these play an important part in acknowledging the valuable contribution of those who have chosen to call this State home.

Applications are now open and will close on Monday, 13 December 2021.
