Sure Start Scholarships established

A new scholarship program to support young people in Tasmania who have lived in out of home care has been developed.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the Rockliff Liberal Government has established the Sure Start scholarship in partnership with the University of Tasmania.

"The scholarships provide up to $15,000 over three years and encourages young people who have experienced out-of-home care to pursue or continue their education and career endeavours," Minister Jaensch said.

"The scholarship is available to students undertaking undergraduate study in any Bachelor degree, or University Preparation Program, or Diploma of University Studies at UTas in Semester 1, 2024.

"Our Government is delivering on its long-term plan by doing what matters for Tasmanians."

Applications for the two scholarships available in 2024 will close on 31 October 2023.
