On September 18, the National Board of Health and Welfare published the official cause of death statistics for 2024. The National centre for suicide research and prevention (NASP) at Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm has now analyzed and compiled data on suicides in Sweden.
NASP is responsible for monitoring the development of suicide and self-harm in the country. By mapping risk groups and trends, we can contribute knowledge that forms the basis for preventive public health efforts.

The latest update includes data on deaths classified as having determined or undetermined intent. 'Deaths with undetermined intent' refers to cases where suicide is suspected, but cannot be confirmed with complete certainty.
