On Sunday 4 November, BVN's Sydney studio will open its doors to the public for the first time since it's refurbishment in late 2017.
This will make Sydney Open ticketholders some of the first people to see and experience an idea of a future workplace, with its model-making studio, immersive Virtual Reality collaboration spaces and mobile workstations – every desk, table, pedestal and chair is on wheels.
Partly built by robots, the design and mobility enables staff to easily move their workstation and collaboration areas around to meet the needs of the day. BVN worked with the University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning to integrate new and old construction technologies to create the space.
An incubator for ideas and collaboration, the new Sydney studio is an innovative editing of the existing space that has been occupied by BVN since 2010.
Activities on the Sunday will include tours throughout the new space, model making and 3D printing demonstrations, as well as virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.
BVN's partnership with Sydney Open highlights the importance of architecture by giving the public a glimpse into over 60 buildings throughout Sydney's CBD.
"The fabric of our cities and towns forms an important part of our culture, it helps define who we are and architecture is fundamental to the richness of our built environment," noted BVN Principal Neil Logan.
The studio is located at Level 11, 255 Pitt Street (entry via Hilton) and will open between 10am-4pm on Sunday 4 November.
