Sydney welcomes Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

NSW Gov

The dazzling West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has been secured for Sydney through the support of the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government.

Minister for the Arts and Tourism Ben Franklin said securing blockbuster productions is key to the vision for the NSW visitor and 24-hour economies, and anchors what will be a bumper period for the State.

"Sydney is the place to be this February, with a range of blockbuster arts and entertainment options available for locals and visitors, coinciding with major events including WorldPride 2023," Mr Franklin said.

"Supporting arts and cultural events like this help attract people to Sydney who stay in our hotels, eat and drink in our restaurants, cafes and bars, visit our attractions and explore our regions.

"The world-renowned Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will boost visitor expenditure, support over 150 local jobs in our arts and hospitality industries, and help position Sydney as the cultural events capital of the Asia Pacific."

The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is providing support to ensure the production can run a full season for Sydney audiences and visitors.

"Events like this not only produce significant economic benefits, but also social benefits by bringing people together to enjoy amazing cultural experiences and increase our city's vibrancy, which is all part of how the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is securing a brighter future for families across the State," Mr Franklin said.

Producer Tim Lawson said, "we are thrilled to bring this acclaimed new production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to Sydney, and just know that Sydney audiences are going to love this show. It is wonderful to have the support of the NSW Government behind our production, and we are grateful that they place so much value in a thriving arts culture."
