Free Cyber Support Builds Small Business Resilience

Australian Treasury

Small businesses across Australia are getting free, practical support to protect themselves from cyber threats and recover when something goes wrong, through the Australian Government's Small Business Cyber Resilience Service.

The $11.1 million service has already supported more than 3,300 small businesses since October 2024, providing tailored, one‑on‑one assistance to strengthen cyber security and help businesses recover from a cyber incident.

Delivered by IDCARE, the service connects small business owners with cyber experts who can assess their circumstances, develop a tailored cyber security plan and provide practical steps to strengthen their digital defences.

For businesses that have experienced a cyber incident, the service can also provide support through the recovery process, including case management and referrals to additional specialist services.

The service is free for eligible small businesses and sole traders right across Australia with 19 or fewer full‑time equivalent employees.

The Cyber Resilience Service sits alongside the Government's Digital Solutions program, which helps small businesses build their digital capability through one‑on‑one advice workshops, webinars and online resources covering cyber security, artificial intelligence, digital marketing and business software.

The Albanese Labor Government is also working to reduce unnecessary compliance costs, with its Regulatory Reform Agenda estimated to deliver $10.2 billion a year in regulatory burden reduction across the economy.
