Australia's ultimate festival of wheels officially begins tomorrow, and hundreds of car fans are already enjoying spring in Alice Springs as they go through scrutineering and prepare for three days of automotive action.
The public program kicks off tomorrow evening at Alice Springs Inland Dragway from 5.30pm, when the burnout competition qualifiers and burnout masters commence.
The fun continues on Saturday with the Shannons Show N Shine, Great Northern 4WD course, grass driving, radio control car competition, grudge racing fun runs, Garrett Advancing Motion Heavy Hitters Drag Racing and everyone's favourite, the Yeperenye Shopping Centre Street Parade.
A new addition to the program this year is Jetpack Entertainment, with the skilled stunt team wowing audiences with spectacular shows featuring jetpacks, fly boards and more.
Sunday sees the action continue, with the drag racing competition, Thunder Run motorcycle parade, Lasseters Motorkhana, burnout masters finals, and official Sun 969 Podium Party featuring Sneaky Sound System.
The event runs 3-5 September 2021 across three venues – Lasseters Centre of Entertainment, Blatherskite Park and Alice Springs Inland Dragway. Tickets cost just $30 per day, or $50 for a three-day Chrome Pass. Visit www.redcentrenats.com.au
Quotes from Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO Tim Watsford:
"Alice Springs is the place to be this Father's Day weekend for Red CentreNATS. There's so much on the program, and town is full of people milling around fine tuning their cars, checking out other people's rides and generally enjoying all things automotive.
"This unique event attracts thousands of people, and they come from all over Australia, which is great news for local businesses and our economy.
"This is the kind of event that secures a bunch of new fans every year – once you've sent it at Red CentreNATS you tend to return again and again. It's fast, it's fun and it's right here in the Territory."
Quotes from Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez:
"It's fantastic to be in Alice for the seventh Red CentreNATS. We've got more than 900 cars and bikes entered, and it's been great for our collective souls to see all the amazing vehicles starting to roll through scrutineering.
"The town is so welcoming, and it's that special feeling, plus the ability to cruise highly modified cars on the streets, that makes people drive thousands of kilometres to this one-of-a-kind festival."
