Law enforcement agencies across Australia and New Zealand have carried out a coordinated National Day of Action targeting the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG).
Task Force Morpheus, a cross‑jurisdictional partnership designed to disrupt and dismantle criminal activity linked to OMCGs, led this year's operation under the direction of the New South Wales Police Force.
The task force brings together all Australian state and territory police, New Zealand Police, the Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, AUSTRAC, the Australian Taxation Office and Services Australia.
The National Day of Action took place on Wednesday 10 June 2026, focusing on weakening the operational structure of the Hells Angels OMCG. Police across both countries executed search and arrest warrants and targeted illicit firearms, prohibited weapons, drugs and traffic‑related offences.
Additional enforcement measures included Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks, bail compliance checks, and actions relating to dispersal and consorting offences.
In total, Taskforce Morpheus National Day of Action led to 40 arrests, resulting in 145 charges.
Across the country, police conducted 14 FPO compliance checks, 76 unlawful association notices, 24 search warrants, two visa's cancellation referrals, and seized 6 pistols, 3 assault rifles, more than 1000 rounds of ammunition, prohibited drugs and steroids, as well as $156,000 in cash, and a potential $4.7 million in fines for transport infringements.
South Australia Police searched multiple premises of Hells Angels OMCG members resulting in seizures of illicit substances and weapons including batons, knives, daggers, and swords. A 39 year old man from Mawson Lakes was arrested for trafficking and weapons charges. He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today (11 June). A 39 year old man from Ingle Farm was reported for weapons charges and will be summonsed to appear in Court at a later date.
Detective Superintendent Campbell Hill, Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch said, "South Australia Police (SAPOL) maintain focus on enforcement and compliance activities to disrupt, derail, and deter OMCG activities to change behaviour, prevent community harm and impact the capability of the Hells Angels OMCG involvement in Serious Organised Crime. Participation in the day of action bolsters the abilities of key agencies to information share on OMCG activities across national and international landscapes, creating a hostile environment for OMCG to mobilise their activities. While OMCG members and their associates and facilitators continue to engage in criminality which poses a high risk to the community, they can expect SAPOL to continue to work with law enforcement partners to disrupt and undertake enforcement activity as and where needed."
