Tasmania Boosts Safety, Connectivity With New Base Station

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The rural community in Tasmania's Northern Midlands is better connected thanks to the Albanese Government's Mobile Black Spot Program (MBSP).

A newly completed Telstra mobile base station will improve 4G coverage and capacity in the area, help reduce mobile black spots, and provide better connectivity for people.

This is an important safety upgrade for a community where agricultural technology, disaster preparedness and emergency communications are significant priorities.

The project was co-funded by the Albanese Government and Telstra through the Mobile Black Spot Program.

Funding has been awarded for more than 1,400 new mobile base stations, with a combined investment of more than $1 billion.
