Tasmanian communities and organisations will be able to continue to invest in and develop community-led drought and climate initiatives, with the Albanese and Rockliff governments investing $4.4 million through to 2029.
The Australian Government, through the Future Drought Fund, has invested $2.9 million, with $1.5 million from the Tasmanian Government, to help deliver the Tasmanian Regional Drought Resilience Planning (RDRP) Program's second phase.
This next phase will include a range of initiatives and grant programs to support the ongoing delivery of actions identified in Tasmania's Regional Drought Resilience (RDR) Plans and build the capacity of communities to drive implementation of their local plan into the future.
Under the first phase, the Program developed three community-led RDR Plans to identify practical steps communities and organisations can implement to prepare for, manage and recover from future droughts and climate-related activities.
Phase one also included the Quick Wins Grants program, awarding a total of $450,000 to 25 recipients to help kickstart priority actions listed in the plans.
The RDRP is one of two state-delivered Future Drought Fund Programs operating in Tasmania until 2029.
The Farm Business Resilience Program, announced on 6 May 2026, builds farmers' decision making and business skills, while Regional Drought Resilience Planning focuses on investing in community-identified actions to manage drought risk.
