Nearly five hectares of land across the State's North will be rezoned to deliver more housing to Tasmanians.
Two Housing Land Supply Orders were tabled in Parliament this week for Ravenswood and Penguin.
The Ravenswood order seeks to rezone approximately 2.7 hectares of land at Lot 1 Prossers Forest Road, Ravenswood, to support future residential development.
The Penguin order seeks to rezone approximately two hectares of land at 1 Ironcliffe Road, Penguin, to support additional residential development in the region.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said the proposed rezonings would help increase housing opportunities in Tasmania's North and North West.
"Our Government is unlocking land to support delivering housing growth in communities right across the State," Minister Vincent said.
"If approved, the rezoning at Ravenswood is expected to deliver approximately 25 residential lots, creating opportunities for more Tasmanians to build and own a home.
"The Penguin rezoning could facilitate around 45 residential lots, creating new opportunities for Penguin.
"The Housing Land Supply Orders form part of our Government's broader work to increase housing supply, a key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
"Housing Land Supply Orders are an important mechanism for unlocking land identified as suitable for housing and bringing forward development opportunities.
"We are increasing land supply across the State, helping create the conditions needed for more homes to be built in well-connected communities."
The Government continues to progress a significant planning reform agenda aimed at supporting housing delivery, including the review of Regional Land Use Strategies, housing diversity reforms, and improvements to the Housing Land Supply framework.
