Teaching Writing At Yale: Alison Bechdel

"Learning how to write is learning how to think," says undergraduate student Kaya Dierks '26, who encourages her fellow students to take a writing class at Yale no matter their professional ambitions. From playwriting to investigative journalism to graphic fiction, Yale offers a multitude of courses in creative writing. What sets Yale apart, however, is its commitment to offering the very best writing instruction to students - embodied by professors within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences who combine writing experience at the highest level with a passion for teaching. The following video, featuring graphic novelist and Professor in the Practice Alison Bechdel, is the first in a series about teaching - and learning - how to write at Yale.

Yale's Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) is home to 1000+ faculty and 40+ departments and programs that span the divisions of Humanities, Social Science, and Science, and provide instruction to the students of Yale College and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
