Eleven local Aboriginal businesses have been selected to represent Western Australia at the World Indigenous Business Forum (WIBF) 2025 in Melbourne (Naarm).
Now in its 16th year, the WIBF is a leading global platform showcasing Indigenous economic development and entrepreneurship, attracting business leaders, policymakers and innovators from around the world.
The Department of Energy and Economic Development (DEED) received 40 applications through its Expression of Interest process, with 58 per cent of applicants coming from female-owned businesses.
In addition, two female Aboriginal entrepreneurs have been sponsored to join the delegation through the WA Government's New Industries and Innovation Fund.
The Team WA delegation, comprising Aboriginal entrepreneurs, small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and emerging exporters, will receive:
- B2B networking opportunities with Indigenous business leaders worldwide;
- learning opportunities, including market insights, capital investment strategies, and business capability development;
- covered flights to and from Melbourne, and accommodation costs while attending WIBF; and
- discounted conference tickets (to be purchased by delegates).
DEED is committed to fostering Aboriginal economic participation and the advancement of First Nations local industries, businesses and people.
This initiative aligns with the Department's Reconciliation Action Plan and its vision to build a stronger, more diverse Western Australian economy for all.
The WIBF is being held from 28 to 30 October. For more information, see: https://wibf.ca/
