Teen Charged in Luxury Car Theft Spree

A teenager will face court today charged over his alleged involvement in the thefts and attempted disposal of multiple luxury vehicles throughout Sydney.

In May 2026, North West Metropolitan Region officers under Strike Force Sweetenham commenced investigations, following a string of break and enters and car thefts across Sydney earlier this year.

Police will allege in court, between Saturday 7 March 2026 and Tuesday 4 August 2026, 11 vehicles including five Mercedes, an Audi, BMW, Jeep, Land Rover, Volvo and Porsche, were stolen from the Tennyson Point, Malabar, North Bondi, Glebe, Strathfield, Haberfield, Roseberry, Northbridge, Paddington, and Kingsford areas and an attempt in Eastlakes.

As part of the investigation, strike force officers have recovered seven cars.

Following extensive inquiries, about 10.50am yesterday (Wednesday 5 August 2026), strike force investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Dulwich Hill.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the home and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

He was charged with nine offences being:

- Dispose motor vehicle part-theft serious indictable offence greater than $5000 (seven counts)

- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner

- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner

The boy was refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today (Thursday 6 August 2026).

Investigations under Strike Force Sweetenham continue.
