A teenager has been charged following a bike crash in Sydney's west.
Shortly before 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 12 June 2026), police were patrolling the Hume Highway,Villawood, when they detected an unregistered dirt bike travelling westbound on the Hume Highway.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command observed a youth riding on his rear wheel and standing on the tail of his bike whilst weaving through traffic.
When the rider came to a stop at the intersection of Woodville Road and The Hume Highway, Villawood, police attempted to arrest the rider, however, he accelerated harshly and dragged a police officer for approximately 20 metres before losing balance and falling off the bike.
Neither the rider or officer were injured
A 17-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with:
- driver manner dangerous,
- negligent driving,
- custody of a knife, and
- resist police.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court on Tuesday 21st July 2026.
