Teens Charged in Eastwood Kidnapping, Assault Attempt

Two teenagers have been charged after an alleged attempted kidnapping and assault in Sydney's northwest last month.

About 8pm on Thursday 28 May 2026, officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command commenced inquiries after receiving a report that four unknown males had allegedly attempted to kidnap a 36-year-old man at a home in Eastwood.

The 36-year-old sustained minor injuries to his leg and arm during the incident and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Following initial inquiries, police located two boys nearby a short time later.

They were both searched with officers seizing multiple items for forensic examination including black balaclavas, surgical gloves, duct tape, and a knife.

The boys – both aged 17 – were arrested and taken to Gladesville Police Station.

They were both charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, affray and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit offence.

One of the boys was also charged with custody of knife in a public place.

They were both granted conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court on Monday 22 June 2026.

Following further inquiries, about 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 June 2026), Ryde detectives – with assistance from officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command – attended a school in Bonnyrigg, and re-arrested the two boys.

They were both taken to Cabramatta Police Station and further charged with kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm, assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group and participate in criminal group contribute criminal activity.

They were both refused bail to appear before Children's Court today (Wednesday 3 June 2026).

Investigations continue.
