Latrobe City Council wishes to advise that Rail Projects Victoria are constructing a second platform at the Morwell Rail Station as part of the Gippsland Line Upgrade, which is being delivered by the State Government.
As part of this project, parking located behind businesses on the northern side of Commercial Road between Hazelwood Road and Tarwin Street will be temporarily affected. While we acknowledge and have advocated to reduce this impact, the occupation of this area is required during the construction period, which is anticipated to be at least six months.
To offset the parking loss for local businesses, Council will be providing 20 permit parking spaces within the car park to the west of the Council HQ building. The bays will be signed and line marked in yellow. We request that these bays be left for use by permit holders. Please download a copy of the map for details of the location.
The works are currently scheduled to begin on 4 January 2022. Council will continue to work with businesses for the duration of these works and we apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while the works are taking place.
