A third man has been charged by Strike Force Betta investigators over his alleged role in the murder of Mahmoud 'Brownie' Ahmad in Sydney's south-west earlier this year.
About 9.30pm on Wednesday 27 April 2022, emergency services responded to reports a man had been shot in Greenacre.
Upon arrival, police located a man with gunshot wounds. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.
He has since been formally identified as 39-year-old Mahmoud 'Brownie' Ahmad.
The matter was initially investigated by detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad under Strike Force Betta.
The investigation subsequently formed part of ongoing inquiries by Task Force Erebus into several fatal shootings and criminal activities by organised crime networks across Sydney.
So far during the investigation, two men – aged 37 and 49 – have been charged over their alleged involvement in the murder and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 26-year-old man during a vehicle stop at Campsie about 12.40pm today (Wednesday 9 November 2022).
Police later executed a search warrant at a home in Campsie, where officers seized a number of items for further forensic examination.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with murder and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 10 November 2022).
