Thousands Ring In New Year In City Of Light

Record-setting crowds enjoyed a huge night of celebrations in the City of Light, marking Perth's biggest New Year's Eve yet.

Around 130,000 revellers flocked into and around the CBD to enjoy two stunning fireworks shows over Elizabeth Quay.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the atmosphere across the City was incredible as the community came together to celebrate New Year's Eve.

"The City's New Year's Eve celebrations were an amazing way to farewell 2025 and ring in what we all hope is a fulfilling, successful and safe 2026," Mr Reynolds said.

After the family-friendly fireworks display at 8.30pm, crowds enjoyed the festivities across the city until the midnight fireworks ushered in 2026 with an impressive burst of colour. Partygoers in Northbridge enjoyed their own midnight spectacle, as no matter where you were in the City, the skies were glowing.

Spectators soaked up views of the Elizabeth Quay and Northbridge displays from favourite vantage points including Birdiya Drive and Langley Park.

"This year, Supreme Court Gardens hosted the Lotterywest Family Fun Zone – the perfect spot for families to settle in with free rides and a range of food trucks," Mr Reynolds said.

"Thank you to the large crowds for being well-behaved and respectful, making it a great family-friendly event.

"It's been a huge year in the City and summer is only just getting started. With the City's Summer Series at Elizabeth Quay, AusCycling and Fringe all on the way, you're about to see summer truly shine in the City."
