Three caught stealing copper at Woodville, South Australia

Three men have been arrested after allegedly stealing copper from a communications pit at Woodville early this morning.

Police received a report of people using a van to pull copper cabling from a pit in Hughes Street North, Woodville about 4.30am on Thursday 1 September.

Patrols arrived within minutes and located three men and their van.

A 53-year-old Elizabeth South man and two Woodville Park men, aged 50 and 43, were arrested and charged with theft. The youngest man was also charged with driving unlicensed.

None of the three men applied for bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Telstra technicians attended the scene to assess and repair the damage.
