Three motorcyclists crash on way to World Superbikes event in past 24 hours

Mansfield police are urging riders to take care after three motorcyclists have crashed on their way to the annual World Superbikes event in the past 24 hours.

Police were called to Kevington this afternoon following reports a male rider had lost control just off Eildon-Jamieson Road about 12.10pm.

The 49-year-old New South Wales man struck an embankment and was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Only an hour before, police were at the scene of another motorcycle collision where a rider lost control about 5km up the road.

A 53-year-old Goongerah man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Police also attended a motorcycle collision in Tolmie yesterday afternoon.

It is believed a man was travelling along Mansfield-Whitfield Road when he lost control about 2pm.

The 64-year-old Wagga Wagga man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the cause of all three collisions remains ongoing.

"We are expecting a lot of riders who may not be familiar with the roads so slow down and ride to the conditions so you can return home safely," Sen Con. Swan said.
