Timeless tower takes home state's top property honour

A timeless addition to Perth's skyline, Brookfield Place Tower 2, has won WA's top property award.

Brookfield Properties was presented with the Property Council of Australia's Rider Levett Bucknall Western Australian Development of the Year award at a cocktail party this evening.

"Brookfield Place Tower 2 demonstrates how contemporary, well-considered office development can create a dynamic and vibrant cultural destination enjoyed by the entire community," says the Property Council's WA Executive Director, Sandra Brewer.

Developed by Brookfield and built by Multiplex, Brookfield Place Tower 2 reached practical completion in 2015, cementing Brookfield Place Perth as one of Australia's most significant commercial precincts.

Comprising 34,000 sqm, the Premium-Grade commercial office tower features a ground floor foyer, 16 upper floors of office space, conference facilities, 110 basement parking bays and a childcare centre. The precinct's retail, dining and entertainment options has made Brookfield Place a go-to destination.

"As a highly visible and connected location in the heart of the city, Brookfield Place Tower 2 has attracted blue chip tenants, including Westpac, Deloitte, Multiplex and Wesfarmers. Despite challenging leasing conditions, Brookfield Place Tower 2 has achieved 95 per cent occupancy," Ms Brewer explains.

The Western Australian Development of the Year award is part of the national 2019 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards program. RLB has partnered with the Property Council to present the awards program since its inception in 1982.

"Brookfield Place Tower 2 combines innovative architecture, luxury fixtures and finishes, cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art sustainability initiatives," says Managing Director of RLB in Western Australia Mark Bendotti.

"With green features, including one of Perth's first tri-generation systems and a 5 Star Green Star rating, RLB is proud to have provided cost management and quantity surveying services towards this sustainability superstar," Mr Bendotti adds.

Brookfield Place Tower 2 is now vying for the SAS International Award for Best Office Development and WSP Award for Best Sustainable Development - New Buildings at the national awards, which will be held in Sydney on Friday 17 May.

Ms Brewer says the local property industry directly accounts for 12 per cent of West Australia's economic activity and creates 205,000 direct jobs.

"Our property industry is not only building iconic projects like Brookfield Place Tower 2. It's also building prosperity by creating jobs, growth and opportunities," Ms Brewer concludes.
