Bayside Council is hosting a community gathering in the Rockdale Town Hall on Friday 18 September at 5pm in response to the recent natural disaster in Nepal.
Together for Nepal has been organised in partnership with Advance Diversity Services, the Transcultural Mental Health Centre, Australian Red Cross and local Nepali community representatives.
The evening will provide an opportunity for community members to come together, acknowledge the ongoing impact of the disaster, and access information and support services.
The program will feature reflections from a Nepali cultural leader, practical wellbeing and coping strategies from the Transcultural Mental Health Centre, and information from the Australian Red Cross about humanitarian relief efforts in Nepal and ways community members can support ongoing recovery.
While recognising the challenges faced by people with family, friends and community connections in affected areas, the event will focus on wellbeing, recovery, connection and resilience.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow community members, local leaders and support services, before sharing a culturally appropriate meal.
The event is being held for Nepali community members living in Bayside and surrounding areas, particularly those with family, friends or community connections to communities affected by the disaster.

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said
