Several community hubs will open this week to assist Toowoomba Region residents impacted by recent severe storms.
The hubs have been announced as part of a number of initiatives to help residents get back on their feet which includes the Clifton Waste Management Facility opening on extra days this week.
Toowoomba Region Mayor and Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group Geoff McDonald said Council's establishment of community hubs was aimed at helping the region's hardest hit communities.
"These hubs will be important to help people get back on their feet following the recent severe storms.
"In personally visiting some of our hardest hit areas, I've been heartened by the community spirit shown with neighbours helping neighbours, the SES out in force helping to make homes safe and Council crews cleaning up parks, roadsides and public property.
"To assist residents further, Council will also open the Clifton Waste Management Facility on Tuesday 11 November and Thursday 13 November from 10am-3pm, which are days the facility would usually be closed.
"The community hubs will help residents to lodge requests for assistance and act as a referral service should residents need to access emotional wellbeing and other support," Mayor McDonald said.
Hubs will be open at the following times and locations:
Tuesday 11 November and Wednesday 12 November, 10am-4pm
- Clifton TRC Customer Service Centre Boardroom, 95 King Street, Clifton.
- Sister Kenny Park, 12-14 Tooth Street, Nobby.
- Greenmount Post Office, 15 Ramsay Street, Greenmount.
Tuesday 18 November, 5pm to 7pm
- Clifton TRC Customer Service Centre Boardroom, 95 King Street, Clifton.
