Townsville CityLibraries wants to hear what projects you would like to see in Aitkenvale Library's brand new fabrication and digital studios.
The new spaces have been built during the COVID-19 restriction period and will be available for public use later this year.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson, Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney, said now was the time for makers to think about what the projects they would like to create and collaborate on in these spaces.
"We're really excited to have construction of the Fabrication Studio and the Digital Studio complete," Cr Greaney said.
"Now we're focusing on interesting project ideas that our community members would like to try in these spaces. This can be anything from creating YouTube videos to making clothes to coding robots."
Cr Greaney said these spaces would ideally bring members of the community together to collaborate on projects.
"We have plenty of great minds across Townsville, and we want to tap in to those minds to create some really awesome products in these two spaces," she said.
"The aim here is to work together with residents and members of the CityLibraries staff to co-design these projects for our community to enjoy.
"We want to engage with designers, filmmakers, photographers, musicians, small business owners, students, engineers, entrepreneurs – the possibilities are endless."
Cr Greaney said the spaces would be free to use.
"Like all of our CityLibraries facilities, this will be free to use. This is a new undertaking for Council, and we're excited to provide these new spaces for our community," she said.
"Because we've designed this for locals we're also very excited to hear feedback on what kind of projects we should forge ahead with. Have a think by yourself or brainstorm with friends, and then send us a message on our CityLibraries Townsville Facebook page with your ideas."
