Glengala Road pocket park is the new kid on the block in Sunshine West.
And while it is small in size, it is big on what it offers the local community.
What was once a traffic island has been transformed into an inviting and cool community space to relax, rest and catch up with friends. It's also in a great place - conveniently located near the Glengala Village shopping strip and Bella Street shops.
The creation of the green space was made possible thanks to the Victorian Government's $400,000 contribution, under the Local Parks Program. Brimbank Council contributed $40,000 for the project.
It now boasts a large shelter, seating and picnic setting, perimeter footpaths and paved areas, bike racks, a drinking fountain, nature garden, nature play area and a playful seating wall.
It also features mosaic artworks and sculpture created by community artist Debbie Qadri in collaboration with school children from several local schools.
The Glengala Road pocket park is part of Council's ongoing commitment to Creating Better Parks Policy & Plan and the West Sunshine 20 Minute Neighbourhood Project.
It will be officially opened at 10am on Sunday 15 May and the community is welcome to come along and be part of the event.
