TRC Backs 2025 International Street Fiesta Funding

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) this week (April 15) endorsed a $40,000 sponsorship package to help stage the fourth annual International Street Fiesta in Toowoomba's Queens Park on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

TRC Community Development, Facilities and Tourism portfolio spokesperson Councillor James O'Shea said Council was pleased to continue its support as the major sponsor for the Fiesta, which previously had been staged as the Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival.

"Council has always seen great merit in continuing support for the festival, which is organised under the banner of the Toowoomba International Multicultural Society (TIMS) and its various sponsors and supporters," Cr O'Shea said.

"The Fiesta continues to showcase the Region's rich cultural composition.

"Our Region is a Refugee Welcome Zone and events like the Fiesta offer new and existing groups a chance to share their music, dance and food with the wider community.

"Toowoomba has been built on the skills of people from many different backgrounds across its history and we continue to see this evolve with new arrivals making a contribution to our community," he said.

"Council's sponsorship for the 2025 event is to the value of $40,000 with a $36,100 cash component and $3,890 of in-kind support.

"Councillors further resolved to provide budget allocation for the 2026 Street Fiesta to the value of $30,000 and for the 2027 event an amount of $25,000.

"This approach gives certainty to the organisers to deliver the 2025 event as well the level of Council funding over the next two years which will help them on a path towards self-sustainability.

"With this three-year commitment from TRC, the Toowoomba Multicultural Society can focus on ensuring the event continues to grow in both impact and independence, while delivering on the cultural and community development goals we all share.

"The event is a signature multicultural festival. It is an energetic and colourful display of music, dance and food for families to enjoy and a great way to meet new groups settling in our community or see more established performance groups."

Information about food and stall applications and how to volunteer will be published at a future date on the festival website, www.tlcfestival.com.au

The funding was approved at the April Ordinary Meeting of Council.
