Beyond Dust Gets Bigger

The Beyond The Dust Festival looks set to grow again this year, with businesses and local groups throwing their support behind the popular event.

The all-ages street party will run from 5pm-9pm on Saturday October 17 in the CBD, including Argent Street and Chloride Street, and features live music, late night shopping, markets, food and drink vendors, bar facilities, public art installations, and a merry-go-round in town square.

Around 30 market stalls are already confirmed for the event, along with 15 food vendors. Retail traders, hospitality venues, and cafes have also shown strong support, offering extended trading and festival specials.

Live music will be provided by Broken Hill's own Echo Lanes, along with visiting bands The Mason Boys, The Bell River Band, and DJ Scopa.

Council's Community Development Coordinator, Rachel Merton, said the build-up for the event was very exciting after thousands packed the streets for the festival in 2025.

"We're still a month out but the interest in the event is really high, I think everyone is keen to build on the success of last year," said Ms Merton.

"When we ran the event for the first time last year, we weren't really sure what to expect, but the public response to it was amazing and everyone is keen to ensure it's every bit as good this year.

"There's going to be a huge range of food and stalls available, along with a return to late night shopping which everybody loves. It's going to be a great event, and we look forward to seeing everyone there."

Beyond The Dust Festival is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW and delivered by Broken Hill City Council with the support of Foundation Broken Hill.

In 2025 Council was successful in receiving $350,000 through the Open Streets Program to host the festival over three years.

Minister for Transport John Graham said:

"Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. As this event highlights, we can use our streets to bring communities together and drive revenue for local businesses.

"Through the Open Streets program, the Minns Labor Government is making it easier for councils across NSW to activate their streets, cutting red tape and supporting local events like Beyond The Dust Festival."
