Tasmanian author Rachael Treasure is coming to the Swan Hill Library for an evening you're sure to treasure! Joined by her kelpie, Dolly Pupton, it promises to be a memorable event as she discusses her newest novel, Milking Time.
Libraries Manager Camille Cullinan said the Swan Hill Library is thrilled to host such a renowned Australian author for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring evening
"We feel so fortunate to host Rachael Treasure, a best-selling author, regenerative agriculturalist, and mother. A graduate of universities in Orange and Bathurst, she uses storytelling to empower women and inspire change towards healthier food systems. Over the years, she has worked a number of jobs as a jillaroo, professional wool classer, veterinary nurse, rural journalist, stock camp cook, high country cattle drover, truffle sniffer dog handler and family farm manager.
"Beyond her books, it is evident she has a fascinating background, one I am personally very eager to hear more about," Ms Cullinan said.
Rachael Treasure has captivated readers with her iconic stories of rural Australian life.
"Her eighth novel 'Milking Time' was long listed for the 2024 Tasmanian Premier's Prize and is a tale of female rural reclamation. Her first novel, 'Jillaroo' (2002) has become an iconic contemporary work of fiction, changing the face of Australian publishing and kick-starting a boom of rural women's fiction," Ms Cullinan said.
There is so much more to discover about this extraordinary author, who has done wonderful things around caring for our planet, particularly within agriculture.
